Our history is like a manuscript that has been left for us to decipher. Through my work I link with what I have lost. I believe in the power of objects to hold feelings of loss and mystery, primal, unconscious and raw as they are. There are two strands; reliefs and paintings. I enjoy trawling for disregarded objects and saving them because they are wonderful. As far as the process goes I don’t know what I want but they seem“obedient to some hidden magical breath” (Yeats). The satisfaction comes when these quivering fragments come together, adjust and find themselves in their own skin. The paintings are made through a process of collaging, over layering and texturing and are redolent of particular places I have lived or visited. I trained at Wimbledon and Ravensbourne College of Art, qualified as an Art Therapist and continue painting. |
